In November of this year the Design and Visual arts group of Stockport College went on a residential trip to Barcelona. The Moving Image Pathway got the opportunity to go and visit the design studio of Dvein. Dvein are a group of filmmakers and animators that work on films and music videos. A famous piece that they had done was the title sequence to the Spiderman 3 movie, which consisted of an animated 3D spiders web that you travelled through during the sequence.
Dvein used a lot of 3D character animation that looks quite remarkable. They have also done work for the National Geographic Channel where they designed the idents. Hewlett Packard (HP) also got the Dvein treatment for a advertising campaign for a model of printer.
Whilst the group was there at the design studio in Barcelona we got showed a show reel that consisted of some of their best works. After that they went onto how they made certain pieces of work and showed us a video of them melting plastic so that its liquid. We were all fooled at this point because we thought it was animated due to seeing previous work by them in the show reel that showed liquid like animation. It was really nice to see that they had gone for an original method of creating work rather than sitting at a computer all day.
